Collection and processing of personal data

Automated data transmission and data logging

The provider (or his web space provider) collects data on the basis of his legitimate interest (see art. 6 par. 1 lit. f. GDPR) each time you access the service and stores these data as “server log files” on the website server. Access data includes:

Name of the accessed website, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider.

The provider uses the protocol data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operation, security and optimisation of service. However, the provider reserves the right to check the log data subsequently if there is a justified suspicion of illegal use based on concrete indications.

The server log files are stored and deleted when the purpose of use no longer applies.

Social plugins or follow buttons are not used on this Website.

Contacting

In addition to automated data transmission and data logging, it is generally not necessary to provide personal data in order to use the service. Further personal data, such as company affiliation, first name, last name, email address and telephone number, will be collected or processed only if you provide this information voluntarily, e.g., as part of an inquiry. When contacting the provider (e.g., via contact form or email), your details will be stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event that follow-up questions arise. When sending confidential data or information, the provider recommends that you use the postal service, as complete data security for emails cannot be guaranteed. If you supply the provider with personal data of your own accord, the provider will process these data only within the scope of the use you have requested. Your data will be passed on by us only if the provider is obliged by legal, official or judicial order.

Security

The provider will keep your data secure and take all precautions to protect your data from loss, misuse or alterations.

The contractual partners of the provider who have access to your data within the scope of maintenance work are contractually obliged to keep it confidential and use it only within the scope of the purpose defined by the provider.

Objections, amendments, corrections and updates

Users of this website may exercise their right to object and object to the processing of their personal data at any time.

Upon written request, you have the right to receive information free of charge by letter about personal data that has been stored about you. Furthermore, you have the right to correction of incorrect data, blocking and deletion of your personal data, insofar as there are no legal requirements to the contrary.

If applicable, you may also assert your right to data portability. If you believe that your data has been processed unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

After expiry of the intended use or statutory retention periods, the personal data will be deleted by the provider.

If you wish to have your stored personal data corrected, blocked or deleted, or if you have any questions regarding the collection, processing or use of your personal data, or if you wish to withdraw your consent, please contact our data protection officer.

Newsletter

Newsletter information

If you would like to subscribe to our newsletter, we will need you to provide us with an email address, as well as information enabling us to check that you are the owner of the email address provided, and that you agree to receive the newsletter. Other data will not be collected, unless you provide it voluntarily. We will only use this data for sending the requested information; this data will not be transferred to other parties.

The dispatch of the newsletter and the performance measurement facility associated with it, is performed on the basis of the consent of the recipient in accordance with Art. 6(1) point a, Art. 7 GDPR in conjunction with Section 7(2) no. 3 German Unfair Competition Act (Gesetz gegen den unlauteren Wettbewerb, “UWG”) or on the basis of a statutory permission in accordance with Section 7(3) UWG. The logging of the registration procedure is performed on the basis of our legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point f GDPR.

We use the double opt-in procedure for subscriptions to our newsletter. This means that following your registration, we will send an email to your specified email address requesting you to confirm that you would like to receive the newsletter.

The processing of the data entered into the newsletter registration form is performed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR). You have the right, at any time, to withdraw your consent to the storage of data, the email address or the use of it for the purpose of issuing the newsletter; one method is to use the “Unsubscribe” link provided in the newsletter. This withdrawal will not affect the legality of data processing operations that have already taken place.

The data provided by you to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter, will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. This data will be erased if you cancel your subscription. This does not affect data stored by us for other purposes.

Our newsletters contain a “web beacon”, i.e. a pixel-sized file, which is retrieved from our server when the newsletter is opened, or from the server belonging to our mailing service provider if we have one. As part of this retrieval process, technical information, such as information about your browser and system, as well as your IP address and time of retrieval are initially collected.

We use this information to make technical improvements to our services, based on the technical data or the target groups and their reading habits and based on their retrieval locations (determinable with the aid of the IP address) or the access times. The statistical surveys also include determining if newsletters are opened, the time they are opened and which links are clicked upon. Technical reasons mean that this information can be associated with the individual newsletter recipients. However, neither we nor our mailing service provider, if one is used, intend to monitor individual users. The analyses instead enable us to recognise the reading habits of our users, and to adjust our content to them, or to send alternative content according to the interests of our users.

Newsletter2Go

Our newsletter is dispatched through the mailing service provider Newsletter2Go GmbH, Köpenicker Str. 126, 10179 Berlin. Newsletter2Go is a German-based, certified provider. You can view the data privacy provisions and other information belonging to the mailing service provider by clicking on https://www.newsletter2go.de/informationen-newsletter-empfaenger. The mailing service provider is used on the basis of our legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6(1) point f GDPR, and based on a commissioned data processing contract in accordance with Art 28(3) GDPR.

At this point your data will be transferred to Newsletter2Go GmbH. Newsletter2Go is prohibited here from selling your data or using it for any purpose other than sending newsletters.

The mailing service provider may use recipients’ data in a pseudonymous form, i.e. without associating it with any user, for the purpose of optimising or improving its own services, e.g. for the technical optimisation of the delivery process and for displaying the newsletter, or for statistical purposes. The mailing service provider will not, however, use the data of our newsletter recipients, in order to contact them independently or to pass on the data to any other parties.
